One of my very favorite Christmas traditions each year is setting up our Christmas Village. A little over 10 years ago my Grandma Long divided her Christmas Village between all her granddaughters and requested we add a new piece each year as she used to. She wanted us to enjoy it before she passed away.
My sister and myself decided to combine our pieces as there was more space at my place to put everything out. Now every every year about Saint Nick's Eve we get together for a family dinner. Afterward my sister, my 4 nieces (currently ages 2 to 17) and myself put out the village including two new pieces. It is a joy to me to watch my nieces take such care placing each building and people in just the right place.
In the first few years we would take a photo to send my Grandma Long so she could see the set up. After she passed we started posting our photo to Facebook. Now we also see how our cousins are also setting up their villages. I hope at some point I look forward being able to pass the village to my nieces so they can continue the tradition with their daughters.
