The Penelopiad

Who Tells Your Story? Journeying back into the world of The Odyssey, Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, reclaims her story and the stories of the women around her. Crafted with Atwood’s witty and poignant text and in the same spirit as The Handmaid’s Tale, this play is sure to resonate with the audience’s passions and personal experiences. Join us as we question the validity of our storytellers, the relationships of women to the stories of men, and the role of women throughout history.

Content warning:
This production includes strong language, themes of war and slavery, and the theatrical depiction of hanging and sexual violence. To remove any of these difficult themes or moments would be to ignore or erase the difficult truths of our society. Our cast and crew are working to handle these themes with the utmost respect and care for the audience’s well-being as well as our own.
